Outland Outfitting is owned and operated by Tim and Brenna Sigfusson and is guiding hands on with all the locations. They are assisted with a few experienced hard working and knowledgeable licensed guides any outfitting business could ask for as they also spend plenty of their time in the bush through hunting, trapping and guiding, combined with pre-season scouting, which assures hunters hunt only the best stand locations and hunting areas with the most recent activity.
We are out one month prior to the start of the black bear season baiting and using trail cams to identify what bears are in the area, and keep checking them every time we bait so quality bears are what you will always be hunting. At Outland Outfitting, we put a lot of time into baiting and scouting so you will always be on productive baits.
Hunters have an excellent opportunity at a Pope and Young or Boone and Crockett bear. Hunts are on pre-baited sites. Almost all sites have 2 man ladder stands ranging from 12'-18' high with 10-20 yard shot distances. Bait sites are strategically placed in remote areas where bear traffic runs high. Hopefully, you are not one of the many hunters who have been taken for a ride by another Outfitter. I can assure you that will not happen here. You won’t find twenty hunters in camp, baits that are a quarter mile apart, or baits that are unproductive You will see bear.

Grand Rapids is a small picturesque community in central Manitoba, Canada. Population is about 1,500 and the nearest towns are at least 100 miles away. This isolation, coupled with the numerous caves and dense forest, make for excellent bear habitat. Grand Rapids is 400 miles north of the Canadian/US border and due to the location of our town between two large lakes, we often become a funnel for hungry bears. Color phase percentage taken here varies but usually averages between 40-50% per year.
When your hunt is complete, you can go fishing or tour the local fish hatchery, Hydro generating station, bat caves and other local sites.
The fishing in Grand Rapids is amazing!! People travel from all over to fish in Grand Rapids. On the Saskatchewan River there is unbelievable walleye fishing and you catch one nearly every cast. 10 minutes from camp you can catch master angler rainbow and brook trout at Footprint lake. Moak Lodge is situated on Cedar lake in North Cross Bay and is well know for it’s Master Angler Northern Pike right off the dock.
Little Limestone lake is a beautiful view with it’s world renown turquoise water and is only 30 minute drive from camp.
P.S. The Northern Lights are very active during hunting season!
Transportation and access to stand locations is provided by any combination of ATV’s, Side by Side’s, or truck. Depending on your stand location you may only travel a short distance on up to 30 miles. Walking distance to your stand location typically ranges 10-50 yards. The hunting area is mostly flat, very remote and limited tag quotas assure trophy quality runs high!
Ashern Area Whitetail Hunts
Travel to camp is fairly easy. For those wishing to drive directions are provided CLICK HERE. For airline travel, plans should be made to arrive and depart from Winnipeg International Airport. It's a short 1.5hr. drive from camp.
The deer area consists of up to 2000 square miles and gives a lot of opportunity at harvesting a mature buck that scores 120 plus. The Interlake Area has been known to harvest whitetail bucks with scores of 200 plus. Whitetails in this remote hunting area receive little to no pressure. This area produces typical and non-typical bucks consistently every year with real potential for a Boone and Crockett buck. Pre-scouting is done and ladder stands or ground blinds are strategically placed to catch monster bucks cruising for does during the peak of the rut. Stand locations are typically placed at pinch points and funnels or overlooking tracts of grassy meadows and/or bogs or beautiful alfalfa fields where the deer can't resist.
Hunts consist of being set up in a comfy ground blind heated by a propane heater or in a comfy tree stand, depending on location. Shots can range from 20-250yds also depending on location. For meat processing we skin the animal and quarter it up for you and freeze it for your trip home. If you want us to de bone the animal for you that is a extra $200 fee. For meals there is a few different restaurants in Ashern just ten minutes from your cabin that make great meals or there is a couple of grocery stores in town as well if you would rather cook for yourself.
